Finding Global Balance

This publication, sets out the latest meeting between the worlds of faith and development, launched originally in 1998 by the then World Bank President James Wolfensohn and the then Archbishop of Canterbury, George Carey. The most recent meeting took place in Dublin, January 2005, bringing together representatives of major world religions, the development community, philanthropists, the private sector, and the arts, to examine and discuss such issues as the recent Asian tsunami, HIV/AIDS, gender and youth and the roots of conflict in the world. The common theme was equity and the establishment of common ground between the worlds of development and faith, along with a recognition of the ethical dimensions of poverty alleviation, and the need for a strong moral foundation for equitable and sustainable development programs.
