Finding official British Information

Official publications cover a wide spectrum of subject material and are a valuable source of information. This book looks at the different bodies which publish official material, describing the types of material published, how it is made available, how it is recorded etc. It focuses on the digital availability of official information and considers how much is now freely available on the web and how to locate it as well as addressing the issues of web only publishing. It covers public bodies in the UK, and includes publications issued by central and local government as well as the devolved assemblies and the many other organisations which issue official publications. It is a practical handbook designed for the non-specialist librarian who needs to use official information but may well have received very little training in this area.
