Games on Horseback

This collection of more than 50 games is not only a delightful diversion from standard riding lessons, but will actually improve a rider's performance and safety skills and create a relaxed, happy horse-and-rider unit. Illustrated instructions for games such as Red Light, Green Light; Root Beer Relay; Broom Polo; and Polocrosse reinforce specific riding skills such as starting and stopping; mounting and dismounting; balance; steering; and leading. For riders of all skill levels.

Steven Bennett is Executive Director of the Horsemanship Safety Association (HSA). Developed in 1964, HSA is a program to teach safe riding techniques to instructors and equestrians. HSA received the National Safety Council’s Community Safety Award for Exemplary Public Safety in 1985.
Betty Bennett-Talbot is the President and Founder of the Horsemanship Safety Association (HSA). Developed in 1964, HSA is a program to teach safe riding techniques to instructors and equestrians. HSA received the National Safety Council’s Community Safety Award for Exemplary Public Safety in 1985. In honor of HSA, Bennett-Talbot was inducted into the Horse & Rider Hall of Fame in 1996. She has also founded Heartland Horse Therapy, a riding program for people with disabilities.
