At the Gate of Rome

From the dawn of history Jacob and Esau have been engaged in a great spiritual battle which has continued until the present day and shall continue until the dawn of the future redemption. Jacob is represented by the People of Israel whereas according to the Kabbalist Rabbi Isaac Luria, who is cited in Shaar Hagilgulim [Gates of Reincarnation], and according to Don Isaac Abarbanel "the soul of Esau was reincarnated into the body of Jesus the Nazarene...and all those who observe his religion and worship him should be called the Sons of Edom since Jesus is Esau and Esau is Edom. Behold it was in Rome that this religion began to take root, and it is the Roman Emperor and the Christian kings who accepted it first. Therefore all the Christians who believe in the religion of Jesus are without doubt the Sons of Edom the Sons of Esau". The Kabbalists explain that Jesus formed the chariot for the ministering angel of Esau who clothed himself in it and who paved the way for establishing this international false religion which has spread across the globe and has darkened it with its idolatry. The negative identity of this angel need not be spelled out in words; neither is it worthwhile to depict the spiritual fate of those who believe Jesus was a deity and thus followed him blindly.The Talmud states that the Davidic Messiah sits at the gates of Rome. Nachmanides explains that he dwells there in order to save the weak flock of Israel who are captives of the Roman Edomite exile in order to save them from Christianity. This book is therefore dedicated to the real Davidic Messiah in the hope that he shall arrive speedily in our days.
