Gender and American Jews

This volume is a clear and readable sociological analysis, based on the most up to date demographic and other materials, of gendered patterns in many areas of contemporary Jewish life. Topics include gendered patterns in education, family, labor force participation, dual earning issues, Jewish identity, and intermarriage. Of particular interest to the authors is determining whether there is distinctive secular behavior among American Jews, and whether those who identify as more "Jewish" in a variety of ways are more likely to engage in this distinctive secular behavior. They seek to discover whether this distinctive secular behavior is eroding, and if so, why.
