Maintaining the multi-disciplinary critical approach of the original, this edition adds chapters devoted to seismic effects and probabilistic approaches, and reliability analyses. It also covers slope performance and mechanisms of instability, and extensive information on modeling. Special attention is paid to the increasing frequency and consequences of natural and man-made hazards. The book discusses the emerging importance of geotechnical analysis of slopes in the context of climate change scenarios. A CD- with software and bonus material is included.
