The Ghost of Northumberland Strait

A thirteen year-old girl, Charly, is fascincated by an uninhabited weather beaten house which stands not far from where Charly and her family live. It has been empty for many years, battered by the winds and storms that constantly attack her home of Prince Edward Island. But one day, when Charly dares to enter the house, it transforms itself into its original state, from the era of her great grandmother, and Charly can see and talk with a mysterious and unhappy young woman. Who is this woman and why is it that only Charly can see her? The two develop a mutually helpful relationship, one in which Charly is helped to grow and mature. In a satisfying conclusion, Charly learns the answer to many family secrets.

Lori Knutson was born and raised a prairie girl. Her writer's imagination was however sparked during a visit by the legends and history of Prince Edward Island, especially those stories surrounding West Point and the Northumberland Strait. It was there that The Ghost of Northumberland Strait was conceived.
