The story in "Gifted" begins in theprologue where a Catholic priest ismurdered in the confessional. It is also thestory of the Starbuck family who reluctantlybecome involved in helping the police solvethe murder and a unrelated bank heist forransom money.All six members of the Starbuck familypossess a special talent. Some comic, someprofound, some artistic, but one inparticular, Claire, a ten old girl who ispossessed with psychic powers which arebrought on by severe thunderstorms. Muchto her parent's concern for her life, if shehelps the police, is her unwittingly tendencyto be pulled into a sinister plot.As the story unravels, Claire's psychicpowers evolve into a series of levitationepisodes that run rampant until her lifebecomes at risk. Circumstances arise duringa clairvoyant episode when she sees a visionof the coming of a new comet and end witha confrontation with the killer.
