Jane Harrigan is Professor of Economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies. She has published extensively on the Middle East, North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. Her books include Aid and Power; Aid and Power in the Arab World: IMF and World Bank Policy-Based Lending in the Middle East and North Africa; Economic Liberalisation, Social Capital and Islamic Welfare Provisions; From Dictatorship to Democracy: Economic Policy in Malawi 1964-2000; and Economic Reforms in Ghana: The Miracle and the Mirage. Hamed El-Said has published extensively on the Middle East and North Africa. His latest work includes Aid and Power in the Arab World: IMF and World Bank Policy-Based Lending in the Middle East and North Africa, and Economic Liberalisation, Social Capital and Islamic Welfare Provisions, both books co-authored with Professor Jane Harrigan. Professor El-Said led the UN research team Working Group on Addressing Radicalisation and Extremism that Lead to Terrorism in 2008.
