Peters grew up on Long Island, New York where her early years were mostly uneventful until she realized that her family had some relationship problems. Her own relationships were struggling too, so she became focused on finding the answer to a healthy relationship and realized it is not who you find, but who you are.

With her books, using many of her own life challenges as a wife and mother in addition to her experience counseling couples, Peters is able to take her reader on the road to a lasting relationship. Peters resides in the Charlotte area of North Carolina, but still makes frequent visits to her previous home in Alpharetta, Georgia.
