History Sells!

The past has become increasingly colorful, noisy, interactive, and hands-on, for history has become living history, which combined with entertainment has become Histotainment, and in Germany as in many other countries it is a lucrative market. History - as well as academic historians and representatives of the subject - must now compete in a market that is filled with ever-increasing resources vying for the attention of readers and viewers. These conditions are accounted for and commented on the anthology, whereas the theoretical frame of reference and practice of applied history is illustrated in opposition to historical science.
