We now live in an aging world. In 1950, according to data from the United Nations, people age 65 or older made up 8 percent of the world's population. Today this group makes up 10 percent of the world's population. The projection for the year 2050 is that 21 percent of the people on this planet-an estimated two billion people-will be aged 60 or older.
