Andy Robinson was a child of the Sixties from the tobacco farming region of Karoi in Southern Rhodesia. His many boyhood exploits with his African friends ensures a lifelong love for the land and its fauna.A holiday to the Wankie National Park west of Bulawayo opens his eyes further to the beauty and savagery of wild animals. It is here that he makes a decision to dedicate his life to the protection of Africa's unique animals from the greed and exploitation of mankind.Ambushed by freedom fighters after crashing their car on the Victoria Falls Road, he and his sister endure the terror of capture. The death of his brother during a Police Anti Terrorist Unit patrol in the Bush War's Operation Hurricane weighs heavily on his family. One of his killers, a ruthless poacher called Lucky Sekunda, escapes from security forces with the aid of Manfred, a German hunter and ivory dealer.Following Independence, Lucky's poaching prowess in the Zambezi Valley helps to create vast wealth for Manfred and a few government ministers in Zimbabwe and Mozambique.Andy moves to Lusaka in Zambia where he joins forces with other enforcement agencies in a bid to capture Manfred. Their greater aim, however, is to eradicate trade in animal products across the Continent from the Atlantic to Indian Oceans and from the Equator to the Tropic of Capricorn. Whilst here he meets his first love, a veterinary officer called Jenny Mason, who shares many of his exploits at his side.Their chase across Central Africa to find Manfred's secrets and cunning smuggling methods culminates on a dhow in the port town of Quelimane near the Zambezi River delta.This is the story of murder and mayhem purely to satisfy the lust and greed of a few at the expense of thousands of innocents.
