Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller first met in Los Angeles in 1950, moved to New York in 1957, and returned to L.A. in 1989, where they each still reside. They were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1985 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. David Ritz has written books with, among others, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, Smokey Robinson, Etta James, Grandmaster Flash, and Paul Shaffer. He also co-wrote the song "Sexual Healing" with Marvin Gaye and Odell Brown.
