How I Met Ike

I was just returning from a brief inspection of the officer's latrine when I heard the command car come to a halt at the head of the row of officers' tents. A tall lean figure leaped from the vehicle and started walking toward me, followed by two other officers and an enlisted man. At first I thought it was General Krueger. However, they passed his tent and came straight toward me standing in front of Colonel Eisenhower's tent. The first words Colonel Eisenhower spoke were "Did you get my mail?" I replied "No sir, I didn't realize I was supposed to."
