I Go South an Unprejudiced Visit to a Group of Cotton Mills

Shumway was hired by a group of Boston businessmen to go down to Alabama and write about what he heard and saw about a group of five cotton mills for which they were selling agents. He was chosen because he was a Yankee, a novelist, an unbiased and unopinionated person who is trained to write about people and would write his report with an open mind.
