I'm No Angel, Vol. 1

A decade before Nana, Ai Yazawa wrote this breakthrough hit about the journey of love into adulthood.

In a brand-new high school of only first-years, Midori, a girl who gives her all, runs for a spot on the student council alongside Akira, a guy who sees things through. Once elected, they start a new legacy at the school while also falling in love.

Midori has had a crush on Akira ever since she saw him rescue an abandoned cat. She hopes to become closer to him now that they’re working together on the student council, but his heart may belong to someone else…

Ai Yazawa is the creator of many popular manga titles, including Nana, one of the best-selling shojo series of all time. Nana won the Shogakukan Manga Award in the shojo category in 2003, and a live-action movie adaptation was released in 2006.

American readers were introduced to Yazawa’s stylish and sexy storytelling in 2002 when her title Paradise Kiss was translated into English. Some of her other works include Neighborhood Story, I’m No Angel, and Last Quarter, which had a live-action movie adaptation that released in 2004.
