Immigrants and the Informal Economy in Southern Europe

Illegal immigrants constitute a major issue in southern European countries through their large presence in the labour markets and their participation in (hence perpetuation of) underground economies. This book is not only the first published piece of comparative research in the area but also one of the few publications giving a comparative analysis of southern European immigration policies. The detailed accounts of each country's pattern of informal employment of immigrants are located within a broader setting of contemporary southern European immigration controls and - in particular - of illegal migration and illegal employment in Europe.
