Drawing upon recent research on the link between imperialism and creativity,Imperialism and Biblical Prophecyis an anthology of newly translated prophetic poetry from ancient Israel. An innovative work of interpretation, this anthology also places biblical prophets like Isaiah ben Amog, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the Second Isaiah in a historical context. The author has here compiled over three dozen poems and fragments, newly translated from the Hebrew Bible, and arranged them in a running narrative that begins in the late 8th century B.C.E., when Assyria destroyed the kingdom of Israel, and moves up to the late 6th century B.C.E., when Persia restored Judah's independence.
