This engaging collection of poetry, split into six sections and written in an intimate and affectionate tone, is wonderfully diverse. The lyrical poems address issues that run the gamut from family, friends, and domestic situations; to children's perception of the world; the seashore; and political situations based on the author's experience as a United Nations worker in the former Yugoslavia. Jessica Le Bas is a writer whose work has been published in numerous magazines such as Just Another Art Movement (JAAM), The Listener, North & South, and Takahe. She was the winner of the New Zealand Poetry Society's 2003 Poetry Competition and the 2005 Bravado Poetry Competition. She is also the coordinator of the Nelson/Golden Bay Poetry Writing Group.
