The Incredible Moments of Pizza

Was pizza always made the way it is now? Not exactly. In fact, pizza started out as a flatbread in Ancient Greece! In 1933, a pizzeria in NYC started selling pizza in slices rather than pies. In 2001, Pizza Hut sent the first pizza delivery to outer space. Pizza is even served in a restaurant in Antarctica! Each spread in this delicious title travels through pizza's historic journey with vivid and playful illustrations by artist Chanamon Ratanalert.

This fun, informative children's book includes details even diehard pizza lovers, young or old, may not know. In the Italian city of Naples, chefs were the first to top their flatbreads with cheese and tomatoes—although many people at that time believed that tomatoes were dangerous to eat!

Michelle H. Kung is an epicure who is fascinated with food history and food-related ephemera. An avid reader and collector of literature, she gets her inspiration for writing from everyday life as she believes life is weirder and more interesting than fiction!

Michelle enjoys analyzing books and films and expressing her opinion through words. She thinks a good story has substance and that sometimes the simplest ones end up being the most complex. Through writing her stories, it allows her to tell the world about the interesting things she learns.

When she's not writing fun stories about food, Michelle binge-watches movies and television shows, collects vintage magazines and random goods, travels with friends, and dabbles in photography. She enjoys finding new and interesting foods at grocery stores and trying new restaurants.

Michelle lives in New York with her Maltese, Max. This is her debut children's book. She enjoys creating thoughtful and whimsical illustrations. This is her first picture book.
