Indonesia Beyond Suharto

No country is at once more important and less well known than Indonesia. Only China, India, and the United States have larger populations. Of the world's 88 lower and lower-middle income economies, only three in 1980-1992 grew faster than Indonesia's. Yet even today many Americans would be surprised by these basic facts. This book achieves two goals: it presents an accessible introduction to the most significant problems facing Indonesia today and raises issues for further investigations.
