Industrial Restructuring in Asia : Implications of the Global Economic Crises

Industrial Restructuring in Asia examines the impact of the global economic crisis of 2008 on the industrial structure in Asia. Though the crisis did not originate in Asia, Asian economies and financial markets have felt its impact and this is likely to deepen substantially over the coming years. The book brings to light not only the cyclical impacts of the crisis, but also those that could influence the long-term growth rate and the structure of the economy. This edited volume is a part of ADBI's major activity for its global financial crisis project. It presents developing scenarios for growth re-balancing, reducing dependencies on exports and developing recommendations related to macro-economic policy, structural and institutional innovations, regional integration and financial reform. It also addresses the broad theme of industrial restructuring in Asia by engaging experts from several Asian countries to work on their individual economies. Their conclusions are then used to draw lessons for the region as a whole.
