This book is divided into 12 age bands, from 1980 to pre 1670, with commentary explaining the social, economic and technical circumstances of the time which resulted in the dwellings appearing as they do. The broad range of dwellings covered should provide the necessary assistance towards identifying the age of a dwelling in any part of the United Kingdom. The series contains all the procedures and tasks involved in the preparation of reports on dwellings whether required by buyers, lenders or sellers. It follows the guidelines laid down by the courts and professional bodies and the likely statutory requirements for the Government's intended Home Condition Reports (HCR). Under the present programme it will be compulsory for Home Information Packs, of which the HCR will be part, to be produced before a dwelling is marketed for sale from 2006.
