The fall of communism and the process of democratisation across post-communist Europe led to considerable change in minority protection. The accession of post-communist states to the European Union was a crucial step in the evolution of European minority protection regimes and in institutional alignment across the EU member-states. This volume investigates the post-communist institutional dynamics in the area of ethnic diversity management. It focuses upon the ideological backdrop and policies and practices of communist minority protection as key factors in determining the contemporary dynamics of European minority rights regimes.
