Intellectual Property, Competition and Growth

The multiple features of intellectual property rights and industrial competition are explored through the analytically rigorous lens of the frontier of the economics literature. The book covers a broad range of issues ranging from industrial espionage to collective property rights in cultural districts. The analyses are carried out both for advanced countries and in a North-South perspective. An appropriate protection of intellectual property rights plays a crucial role in promoting R&D activities and hence economic growth. The book explores theoretical issues and empirical evidence coming from different countries and sectors.

GUIDO COZZI studied at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", Italy, and at New York University, USA, and taught at Cornell University, USA, and at "La Sapienza". He is now full professor at the University of Macerata, Italy. He has published his research works in top international economics journals and has carried out consulting activities for public agencies and industrial associations.

ROBERTO CELLINI studied at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna, Italy, and is currently Professor of Economics at the University of Catania, Italy. His scientific interests and main publications in top economic journals focus upon economic growth, industrial organisation and game theory.
