Intertextual Masculinity in French Renaissance Literature

How should we relate to those who are 'other' to us? This book critically compares the work of John Hick and Leslie Newbigin who offer very different accounts of Christ's relation to the other. Arguing that the person of Christ in community helps us become more fully human through relationship, this book explores areas of Christology and religious pluralism to bring together three sensitivities systematically - sensitivity to 'the other' within a religious tradition, 'the other' of other traditions, and 'the other' of social/political inequalities. As a work of constructive theology, this book discusses different visions of Christ and their philosophical underpinnings, but it also addresses questions of identity, difference and solidarity in a divided world
