Why is it so hard for Israelis to live at peace with the Palestinians? The news media give Americans the impression that Israel is the innocent victim of constant attacks by the Palestinians, and Israel is forced to give a military response to those attacks. While partly correct, the reality is far more complicated than that. This book is written to show conservative Christians the reality on the ground of Israel's relationship with the Palestinians. It traces highly problematic actions on both sides in the conflict. It notes attempts by Jews, Christians, and Palestinians to find a path toward peace. It notes possible outcomes of the escalating conflict. Then it puts the conflict in a broader biblical context. It traces at some length the Bible's land theology, and it asks what Israeli actions are really justified by God's promises to Abraham. The goals of the book are to help Christians develop a reality based understanding of the problems in the land and to show Christians the importance of helping both sides in the conflict move toward reconciliation before much of the world suffers from the escalating conflict.
