Job Coaching

The author has almost 20 years of experience in working with people with disabilities. He started in a teaching position at a sheltered workshop in California and moved on to work as a custodial crew supervisor. After moving to Washington state he did some residential work, supervised another custodial crew and has served as a job coach for the past 7 years. The book combines story telling and humor and gives specific examples of what it takes to coach and methods for success in job coaching. The author advocates for people with disabilities and shows how to place job coaches in the shoes of the people they serve.There are some helpful exercises and a quiz for your staff, how to avoid common mistakes and the importance of teamwork. The foundation of the book is the emphasis on the commitment and passion it takes for both coach and client to succeed.
