Life Under the Sun

Does life have meaning? Does history have direction? Do we have a purpose? When Solomon cried out that everything was meaningless, was he agreeing with existentialism that life is hopeless and humans are helpless? "Thus I considered all of my activities which my hands had done and the labor I had exerted, and behold all was vanity and striving after the wind and there was no profit under the sun."
