Focusing on a broad approach to the issues of logic in their relation to inquiry, argument, and principles of order, Logic introduces the philosophy of logic, the traditional theory of the syllogism, induction, and probability, and propositional and predicate logic. Framing the study of logic in terms of problems connected to wider issues of epistemic, political, and moral concerns that emerge in the context of racial, cultural, and religious diversity, the text will appeal to upper undergraduate and beginning graduate students as well as philosophical thinkers and readers.

Scott L. Pratt, PhD, is Professor and Head of Philosophy at the University of Oregon. Dr. Pratt has published numerous journal articles in his areas of interest, which include logic, epistemology, pragmatist social theory, pluralism, and the history of philosophy.
