Lovisa was born in Southern Sweden. She loved swimming in the baltic sea, and eating lettuce from her grandmothers garden. She loved to dress up her duck with lettuce skirts. When she was 8 years old, her parents decided to move to America. They traveled by boat and the trip took a long time. On the boat, there was no lettuce available, only potatoes and herring fish. When Lovisa arrived in America, everything was strange and different, and she longed for the lettuce from Sweden. To her surprise, she found the same lettuce at a Farmers Market in Seattle. Her mother bought some lettuce leaves for her, and some bright green lettuce leaves to make a new skirt for her duck. Together they danced to the steel drums at the Farmers Market, to celebrate finding lettuce in America!
