A Lyrical Soul

"Vincent Young, a lackadaisical high school student, struggles with drug use, romance, and his future where he finds little inspiration. He meets Mr. Isaac Yinsen, a photography teacher with an unusual life adage that 'life is cinematic', and finally finds a new inspiration for himself".

I'm Donovan A. Levine, born in 1998 in the quaint but boring town of Sleepy Hollow, New York. Over the years I developed a borderline unhealthy affinity for writing, music, and film. I casually grew up in Royersford, PA and later attended a church called New Hanover United Methodist where I served as a two-year missionary overseas. I later studied Communications at Kutztown University where I worked as a production assistant and as a journalist. As a hobby, I wrote stories on my notes apps. When I'm not writing I'm editing compiled footage or practicing a little tune on the guitar or piano.

A Lyrical Soul is my first book that was loosely inspired by my spontaneous high school and college life, but also heavily draws from the influence of Robin Williams in his films Dead Poets Society (1989) and Good Will Hunting (1997), as well as the novel Man's Search For Meaning by Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl and his idea of 'logotherapy' - the necessity for one to pursue meaning in their life. I am a Kutztown University grad. and former editor-in-chief for a local newspaper.
