Maintaining Children in School

The nineties has seen increasing concern about the numbers of children and young people being excluded from school. How can school exclusion be prevented? How can children be maintained in school? What contribution can social services departments (SSDs) make to such an approach?
Drawing on a national survey of SSDs, this book goes on to explore what elected members and officers in social services departments and local education authorities, school personnel, children and parents found of value in a social work approach.
