Polyurethane is one of the fastest-growing industries with a wide variety of commercial applications. Unfortunately, the high flammability of polyurethane foams restricts valuable developments. This two-volume (1399, 1400) set presents the state of the field of flame-retardant polyurethanes. This volume focuses on principles, materials, and applications of flame-retardant materials, including specific chapters on halogen-based flame retardants, nanomaterials, and industrial applications. This comprehensive set will be a valuable tool for scientists and researchers working on polyurethanes in both academia and industry.

Dr. Ram K. Gupta is an associate professor at Pittsburg State University. Dr. Gupta's research focuses on biobased polymers; flame-retardant polyurethanes; conducting polymers and composites; and green energy production and storage using two-dimensional materials, optoelectronics and photovoltaics devices, organic-inorganic heterojunctions for sensors, biocompatible nanofibers for tissue regeneration, scaffold and antibacterial applications, and biodegradable metallic implants. Dr. Gupta has published more than 230 peer-reviewed articles; has made more than 280 national, international, and regional presentations; has chaired many sessions at national and international meetings; has edited many books; and has written several book chapters. He has received more than $2.5 million for research and educational activities from many funding agencies. He is serving as editor-in-chief, associate editor, and editorial board member of numerous journals.
