Mechanics of Solids emphasizes the development of analysis techniques from basic principles for a broad range of practical problems, including simple structures, pressure vessels, beams and shafts. Increased use of personal computers has revolutionized the way in which engineering problems are being solved and this is reflected in the way subjects such as mechanics of solids are taught.
