Migration and Organized Civil Society: Rethinking National Policy

Migrant organizations are of vital importance for incorporating their clientele into the societies of arrival, but the empirical and theoretical knowledge of the cross-border character of migrant organizations and the embedment of these organizations in national and cross-border contexts remains incomplete. Using a transnational perspective, this book discusses migrant organizations, migrants'¬" civic and political participation, and governance. It systematically addresses the aspects raised by migrant transnationalism for political sociology and explores the interplay between organizational structures and political frameworks and the consequences, challenges and chances of transnational migrant organizations for governance.
