Kent Redfield is a professor of Political Studies at the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS), where he is also the associate director of the Illinois Legislative Studies Center. He received his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Utah and his M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from the University of Washington. Prior to joining the UIS faculty in 1979, he worked for four years as a member of the research/appropriations staff for the speaker of the Illinois General Assembly
