Monkeys of the Taï Forest: An African Primate Community

A great deal has been written about primates; however, few volumes have focused on an entire community of sympatric monkeys at a single site. The primary purpose of this book is to provide a multi-thematic snapshot of the entire monkey community of the Tai forest (Ivory Coast), drawing upon diverse sets of data collected by researchers over the years. The major themes covered include the following: feeding ecology, social behavior, positional behavior and habitat use, predator-prey interactions, vocal communication and conservation. In addition, portraits of all species are provided, summarizing the major behavioral characteristics of each, as little is known about these West African monkeys. Book jacket.
