The young Marek, Arnon Grünberg's alter ego, has always sought the affection of those around him, although to do that he had to become a dominator, a seducer: in short, a donjuan. However, little by little, his dreams become a way of finding a woman to fall in love with, to establish an exclusive union. Armed of books, he believes, may shed light as: From Love by Stendhal, Adolfo de Benjamin Constant and Lulu by Frank Wedekind, and films such as The Lover's Love by Truffaut, Marek throws himself to the pursuit of "true" love.
