Mood Disorders A Handbook of Science and Practice

This is a paperback edition of the highly successful Mood Disorders, first published in 2003.The book is organised into three parts: Part I, Unipolar Depression; Part II, Bipolar Depression; and Part III, General Issues. Chapters in Parts I and II discuss classification, biological models, CBT and other treatment approaches for each disorder. Part II covers approaches to assessment, suicide and depression in older adults. The final chapter offers a summary and suggests new directions for research and practice. Mick Power is Professor of Clinical Psychology and Director of the Clinical Psychology Training Programme at the University of Edinburgh. He is a practicing clinical psychologist in the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. In the past he has been a Senior Lecturer at the University of London and has worked as a clinical psychologist at Guy's Hospital, and at the Bethlem and Maudsley Hospitals. He has worked for the Medical Research Council and has acted for many years as a Research Adviser to the World Health Organization. He is a founding editor of the journal Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy.
