More Recess Please

The story is about a child's request for more time to play, it also incorporates a message of friendship, courage and diversity among students. Recess and play in general is a universal language in which all children are fluent. It is not a reward. It is fundamental to their physical, social and emotional development. Through play-especially outdoor play-children release stored up energy, often referred to in classroom as "getting out the wiggles," so they can better sit and focus when needed. Movement doesn't just benefit the wiggly body; it also stimulates the brain, fostering creativity, problem solving and critical thinking. The story illustrates the importance play and being brave!
