Mulla Sadra's Transcendent Philosophy

Dangerous games and adventure tours have shifted from being marginal, exotic or mad to being more than merely acceptable, but even mainstream. Beginning with the rise in colonial explorations and the Dangerous Sports Club of Oxford, this book examines the increasing phenomena of adventure sports such as bungy jumping, cliff jumping or 'tomb-stoning', surfing and parkour, examining what attracts humans to interact with extreme landscapes and how such interactios impact on society as a whole, as well as both indivuduals involved and the landscapes themselves. It takes an ethnographic approach to this exploration of man's attraction to 'positive' risk as well as addressing how to balance the pleasure ensued with the moral responsibility towards the environment.
