After graduating from Deer Park High School in 1979, he joined the United States Coast Guard. As a Small Boat Coxswain, his primary job was search and rescue. During his final year (1983) in the USCG, while attached to the Coast Guard station on Fire Island, NY, Ronald piloted his boat and crew on 165 (sorties) missions. He currently lives in South Florida and still listens to Elton and sees him in concert whenever Elton is in the area. For the author, being an Elton fan is a lifelong privilege.
