Neurofeminism Issues at the Intersection of Feminist Theory and Cognitive Science

Going beyond the hype of recent fMRI "findings," this interdisciplinary collection examines such questions as: Do women and men have significantly different brains? Do women empathize, while men systematize? Is there a "feminine" ethics? What does brain research on intersex conditions tell us about sex and gender?

Robyn Bluhm is Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Co-Director of the Institute for Ethics and Public Affairs at Old Dominion University, USA. Her research examines philosophical issues in medicine and psychiatry, with a particular focus on the relationship between ethical and epistemological questions arising in medical research or clinical practice Anne Jaap Jacobson is Professor of Philosophy and Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Houston, USA, where she is also Director of the Center for Neuroengineering and Cognitive Science. She has published a number of papers on the history of philosophy, philosophy of mind and neurophilosophy, and feminist philosophy. She edited Feminist lnterpretations of Hume and authored Keeping the world in Mind, also from Palgrave Macmillan.
