New Directions in Expatriate Research

Expatriate assignments are a key part of many international managers' careers and the handling of expatriation/repatriation issues is a vital part of maintaining business competitiveness. Understanding the meaning, the value and the significance of the expatriate assignment, both to the organisation and to the expatriate, remains an important academic and practical task. This book brings together new contributions in the expatriation field. In so doing, it opens up new lines of enquiry, draws attention to the on-going need for theory building and points to some of the methodological quagmires that can beset intercultural research of this nature.

MICHAEL J. MORLEY is Assistant Dean of Research and and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Personnel and Employment Relations and NOREEN HERATY is Lecturer of Human Resource Management in the Department of Personnel & Employment Relations, both at Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick.
