Old English Syntax Volume I: Concord, the Parts of Speech, and the Sentence

Aims to chart the whole realm of the syntax of Old English. Thedifficulties inherent in the study of old English syntax make a prescriptiveanalysis virtually impossible at this point. For this reason, the books do notlay down rules but rather make suggestions, demonstrate, where appropriate, thepossibility of different interpretation, summarize the present state ofknowledge about the phenomena discussed, and indicate possible lines of researchin the future.
