"Once a Warrior" is set in a time of ferment in Imperial Rome of the First Century A.D. This is a story that emerges from history and imagination.Gaius, a man trained for battle, is caught up in a struggle of forces that he can neither control nor understand. He, with four-hundred other warriors, receives orders to attack and destroy an enemy village beyond the border. Gaius alone lives to know the consequences of that fatal attack that sends him as a deserter from the battlefield on a long journey across the Empire. The hunter becomes the hunted and the deserter, a man in search of revenge. What he finds in those far lands is the adventure itself.
