Parallel Lives of Jesus

This introductory textbook demonstrates how the four canonical Gospels function both separately, as unique accounts of Jesus' life, and as narrative renditions of a shared story. Building on the premise that the Gospels are ancient biographies or "lives of Jesus," Adams examines parallel Gospel passages, highlighting the similarities and differences between them. Students will learn skills in synoptic reading and comparison.

Edward Adams is Senior Lecturer in New Testament Studies at King's College London. He is the author of The Stars Will Fall from Heaven: 'Cosmic Catastrophe' in the New Testament and Its World and coeditor of Christianity at Corinth: The Quest for the Pauline Church.
