Originally compiled in the 1950s and early 1960s, the Wainwright walkinguides are perhaps the most distinctive and unusual guides ever devised. Theesult of research by their namesake and author over a period of 13 years,he guides have retained their original format and design to this day. Theooks contain intricate hand drawn sketches by the author, detailing routesf ascent, and gradients of the hills in and around the Lake District andutlying regions.;"The Pennine Way Companion" was a further addition to theange of pictorial guides, and details a 270 mile walk from Edale inerbyshire to Kirk Yetholm in Southern Scotland.
